Bahamas

The Bahamas are seven hundred islands an hour from Florida: Nassau as the hub, Exuma and Abaco as quiet and water. There is no income tax, but food, rent and electricity are among the most expensive in the Caribbean because almost everything is imported. It is warm all year and dry in winter, while the hurricane season from June to November shapes insurance and plans alike. Work outside tourism and finance is scarce, serious medicine is in Florida, and life on the outer islands requires a boat and supplies.
