Bermuda

Bermuda sits in the Atlantic rather than the Caribbean: pastel houses, pink beaches and a large insurance industry. There is no income tax, but the cost of living is among the highest anywhere — housing, food and electricity all work on a different scale. The climate is subtropical, with mild windy winters and warm humid summers, and a swimming season from May to October. Staying depends on a work permit, households are limited to one car, and the choice of goods and leisure follows the size of the island.
