Burundi

Burundi is a small hilly country on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, visited mainly for work with international organisations. Local produce is cheap, while international-standard housing, fuel and imports are expensive and arrive irregularly. Altitude softens the climate, rain falls from September to May, and the dry season is short. Infrastructure is limited: healthcare is weak, power unstable, and travel around the country is planned in advance.
