Croatia

Croatia is a thousand kilometres of broken coastline, islands and old towns that half of Europe visits in summer. Coastal prices have risen to southern European levels, the interior and Zagreb are noticeably cheaper, and the resorts empty in winter. The coast has Mediterranean summers and mild wet winters, while inland the climate turns continental with snow. Work outside tourism is limited, salaries are low, and year-round rentals in coastal towns are hard to find because everything goes to the season.
