Curaçao combines colourful Willemstad, diving straight off the shore and Dutch rules in paperwork and schooling. Living costs less than on Aruba, though food and electricity remain expensive and rent depends on proximity to the sea. It stays dry and warm all year with a short wet spell from October to January, and hurricanes rarely reach this far south. The labour market is narrow outside tourism and financial services, and specialist medicine is in the Netherlands or Colombia.
