Djibouti
Djibouti is a small country at the mouth of the Red Sea: the salt lake of Assal, diving with whale sharks and a major port. Prices are high for the region because nearly everything is imported, and capital rent is expensive thanks to demand from foreign missions. The climate is among the hottest anywhere: summer is punishing, the comfortable season runs from November to March, and rain is rare. Work outside the port, logistics and international bodies is limited, healthcare is basic, and water and electricity are expensive.
