Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic combines resort Punta Cana and Bayahibe with ordinary city life in Santo Domingo and the mountain town of Jarabacoa. Living costs less than on the neighbouring islands: rent outside the resort zones is affordable and local food is cheap, while imports and electricity cost the most. It is warm all year, with a dry season from December to April and a rainy, hurricane-prone stretch from June to November. What you accept is power interruptions, road quality and everyday caution beyond the tourist districts.
