Islands in the South Atlantic with penguins, sheep farms and the single small town of Stanley holding a couple of thousand people. Prices are high because everything is shipped in and the choice of goods is limited, though fishing and public-sector pay is substantial. The climate is cool and windy all year: short bright summers and winters that are mild for the latitude but relentlessly windy. Connections to the mainland are infrequent and weather-dependent, healthcare is basic, and complex cases are flown to Britain or Chile.
