Faroe Islands

Eighteen islands in the North Atlantic: cliffs, sheep, tunnels between settlements and a very tight-knit community. Prices are Danish and almost all food is shipped in, though housing costs less than in Copenhagen and fishing pays well. The weather decides everything: wind, fog and rain are possible in any month, summers are cool and winters mild and stormy. Work outside fishing and the public sector is scarce, Faroese is needed, and flights and ferries depend on the weather.
