Finland

Finland pairs quiet, lakes and very dependable urban infrastructure: Helsinki is compact and the forest starts at the edge of the district. Costs run above the Baltics and close to Sweden, though rent outside the capital is noticeably easier. Winter is long, snowy and dark; summer is short, bright and surprisingly warm; autumn is wet. Finnish is hard and needed for most jobs, and the darkness from November to February takes a deliberate effort to get used to.
