Gambia

The Gambia is a narrow country along its river, where Europeans come to spend the winter on the Atlantic beaches. Living is cheap: rent, food and transport cost little even along the tourist strip, and imports cost the most. The dry season from November to May is the main tourist window, rain falls in summer, and the ocean softens the heat. English is official, but healthcare is basic, power is unstable, and work comes down to tourism.
