Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe is a butterfly-shaped archipelago: flat Grande-Terre with the beaches and mountainous Basse-Terre with waterfalls and a volcano. As on the other overseas territories prices exceed mainland France, while healthcare and schools follow French standards. The dry season runs from January to April, the humid and hot one from July to November, which is also hurricane season. The labour market is narrow, transport between islands depends on ferries, and Europe is eight hours away by plane.
