Guatemala

Guatemala is volcanoes, Lake Atitlán and colonial Antigua, where people come to learn Spanish and end up staying for months. Living is very cheap: rent, food and transport cost little even in the tourist towns. The highlands keep an eternal spring, the coast is hot and humid, and rain falls from May to October. The difficulties are roads and healthcare, everyday caution in the capital, and how little you can do outside Antigua without Spanish.
