Income tax rates are below the UK and housing costs less than in southern England, though anything shipped in is dearer. The climate is mild and damp: almost no snow, frequent wind and rain, cool summers. Work concentrates in finance, insurance and online business, while doctors, schools and flight options are limited by the size of the island.
