Liechtenstein
A principality between Switzerland and Austria: a few dozen thousand residents, mountain trails and an economy wired into the Swiss one. Prices are Swiss and income taxes moderate, but renting is close to impossible because supply is tiny. The climate is Alpine: snowy winters, short warm summers and wet shoulder seasons. Permanent residence is effectively closed and allocated by quota, so most people working here live in neighbouring Switzerland or Austria.
