Mali

Mali is the Niger river, the mud architecture of Djenné and Bamako as the only large city in the country. Local produce is cheap, while imports, fuel and international-standard housing are expensive. The climate is arid: punishing heat in spring, a short summer rainy season and cool winter nights. A visa is arranged in advance, travel beyond the capital is restricted and escorted, and healthcare and connectivity are weak.
