Mauritius

Mauritius combines beaches, a mountainous interior and working infrastructure: banking, internet and schools are reliable, and English and French are both in use. Living costs more than in continental Africa and less than in Europe, and the long-stay programmes are built for remote workers and investors. Summer from November to April is hot and humid, winter from May to October dry and windy, and cyclones are possible in the warm season. The limits are the size of the island, dependence on a car and expensive imports, electronics included.
