Montserrat

Montserrat is an island whose southern half is closed by the volcanic exclusion zone, with life gathered into a few northern villages. Prices are high because everything is shipped in and the choice of goods is minimal, though housing costs less than on the resort islands nearby. It is warm all year, dry in winter and wet in summer, with hurricanes possible later in the year. The population is tiny, work outside the public sector is scarce, healthcare is basic, and access is by ferry or helicopter from Antigua.
