Nauru

Nauru is among the smallest countries in the world by area: the ring road takes half an hour to drive around the whole island. Everything is priced in Australian dollars, costs are high because of shipping, and the choice of goods and housing is minimal. It is hot and humid all year, wetter from November to February, and shade on the island is scarce. Work outside the public sector barely exists, healthcare is basic, and flights are infrequent, routing through Brisbane and neighbouring islands.
