A destination for short trips to Bethlehem, Jericho and Hebron, usually reached as a day out from the neighbouring cities. Food and lodging cost less than in Israel, though the range of services for visitors is limited. The climate is Mediterranean: dry hot summers, cool rainy winters and occasional snow in the hills. Routes and entry are planned in advance, and movement runs through checkpoints and depends on their opening hours.
