Puerto Rico is American infrastructure on a Caribbean island: San Juan for healthcare and work, with the old town and beaches half an hour away. Rent costs less than on the US mainland, while food, electricity and goods cost more because everything is shipped in. It is warm all year, the rainy and hurricane season runs from June to November, and the mountains are cooler and wetter. Entry follows US rules, and the difficulties are power interruptions and the price of anything imported.
