Senegal is Dakar on its ocean headland, with music, surfing and a relatively calm routine for the region. Local markets are cheap, rent in the better Dakar districts has risen with demand, and imports are expensive. The dry season runs from November to May with a cool ocean wind, rain falls from July to September, and the interior is hot. French is essential, healthcare is limited, and life in the capital is hard without a car and patience for traffic.
