Uruguay
Uruguay is a calm small country between Argentina and Brazil: Montevideo with its promenade, Punta del Este in summer and quiet provinces all year. Prices are higher than in the neighbours — food and electronics are expensive — but service quality and predictable rules are noticeably better than regional norms. The seasons are inverted, winters are mild and damp, summers warm, and the coast comes alive from December to February. Residency and naturalisation are handled generously; the drawbacks are the prices, the wind and a small labour market.
