Where to Get Coffee on Koh Samui Besides Starbucks and Cafe Amazon

Starbucks, Cafe Amazon, and Coffee World on Koh Samui are on every corner — you don't need to look for them. Below are ten coffee shops with their own roasting or pour-over brewing, two or three in each district of the island: from Maenam in the north to Lamai in the south.

How We Chose

We filtered out chain outlets — they're already visible on the map without a guide — and kept places with their own roasting, filter coffee, or separate workspace, spread across the island rather than concentrated in one tourist district.

What Suits Whom

• Hachiya Coffee Roastery and Coffee Collective Samui (Maenam, north) — roasteries with their own beans, an option for those who make a special trip for coffee, not incidentally with breakfast.
• Chao Doi Coffee (Chaweng, Laem Din) — a point of a Thai specialty bean brand from the country's northern plantations.
• A Slow Bar: Just Another Coffee and Sa-Thu Slow Bar Coffee (Chaweng and Bo Phut) — establishments with slow bar format and hand brewing, for those who aren't in a hurry.
• wildtribecafe (Lamai, south) — a small coffee shop away from Chaweng's tourist strip.
• Emporio caffé samui (Lamai) — an espresso bar in Italian format, for those missing a ristretto.

What to Know in Advance

Small roasteries like Hachiya and Coffee Collective keep their own hours and may close earlier in the evening — it's better to visit in the morning. Between districts of the island it's 20 to 40 minutes by transport, a route through several coffee shops in one day should be planned for one or two districts, not the whole island at once.
